In a bid to stay one step ahead of their competitors in the world of exhibition and banner stands, Printdesigns are installing a fantastic new Latex printer at their headquarters. The HP Designjet L28500 will be fitted in February and comes with a huge range of benefits for clients of Printdesigns or those looking to buy a banner stand in the near future. Up to 70% faster printing speeds, faster turnaround times and prints that come out completely dry, ready to use or finish, mean that Printdesigns will be able to keep ahead of the game with regards to their orders and ship purchases to clients more efficiently than ever.

The printer uses special HP Latex ink, which requires no special ventilation or hazard warning labels. The prints created by these inks are odourless, and can be printed onto fabrics such as vinyl, fabrics, paper, film and other low-cost uncoated options. Double-sided prints with minimum intervention are now possible with the installation of this printer, massively decreasing the time it will take for orders to be printed and ready to distribute. This will affect the creation of such products as the Quickroll Roller Banner Stand, the most popular banner stand on sale at Printdesigns. The base is compact, yet stable, and the wide footprint makes for an ideal indoor display. The print, of photographic quality, comes on durable blockout material (520gsm) which will now be printed using the fantastic new Latex printer.

Also affected by the installation of the new printer will be the Desktop Roller Banner Stands. These miniature stands are great for enforcing a brand and are generally mass-ordered by clients. The arrival of the HP Latex printer now means that many more of these A4 stands can be created in a shorter space of time. The tear-resistant material the designs are printed onto make the stands perfect for market distribution and the more there are to hand, the more effective the marketing will be.

The Latex printer is also environmentally-conscious; the inks used are eco-solvent, non-flammable and water-based so as not to emit harmful chemicals. Supplies can be returned to HP and recycled, ensuring greater ink efficiency; HP itself is an industry leader and environmental certifications and awards. This is great news for businesses that like to keep an eye on their carbon footprint, and may interest prospective buyers of the eco-friendly Bamboo Banner Stands on offer at Printdesigns. The sturdy and attractive stands are constructed from one of the fastest growing plants in the world, and give a natural, attractive appearance for an authentic, environmentally-friendly look and feel which boosts ‘green’ credentials.

It’s a new year, new start, which means doing things bigger and better than ever before.

A shell scheme is made from a series of aluminium upright posts which are connected together which infill panels between them.

Conventional graphic panels for shell schemes normally fit in-between the shell scheme posts and therefore the display can look rather fragmented. As exhibition stand organisers rarely allow for materials to be stuck on top of the shell scheme posts, we have clips available which snap on-top of the posts which allow for printed panels to be fixed edge to edge.

These clips known as ‘shell clad‘ adapters are very simple components, faced with velcro that gives the exhibition panels a surface to adhere to.

Printed panels for the stand are produced using a choice of rollable or rigid boards and are made to an exact measurement so that they fit over the top of the posts, spanning from the centre of one post to the centre of the next post.

The overall effect of using shell clad fixings and compatible panels is that the display is a continuous mural rather than a series of stand-alone posters.

The cost for producing all of the graphic panels and supplying clips for a 3M x 1M stand for example would be around £620 plus vat which is comparable to something like a regular sized pop up stand. The benefit of using exhibition shell clad clips and panels when compared to free-standing portable displays like pop up stands and banner stands is that none of the precious floor space is taken up, this is something very important on a smaller stand area.

Although many exhibition shell schemes have identical panel dimensions, it is necessary to confirm the type of stand that you have so that we can produce the correct type of clips and the correct dimensions for the artwork panels. We can either provide raw panel dimensions for your own designer or creative team to work to or alternatively we can produce a bespoke artwork template for your stand and your designer can overlay the artwork on-top.

As well as producing shell clad panels and graphics, Printdesigns also deal with all types of exhibition displays and graphics. We are one of the lowest cost suppliers of pop up stand and banner stands and we also offer all types of large format printing and finishing including UV, dye sublimation, ink jet and contour cutting.

If you have any projects that you would like a competitive quote on in the future, please just call or email and we will be happy to help.

Starting a new business in an industry already saturated and crowded with wannabe entrepreneurs can seem a daunting task. Approximately 300,000 businesses are set up every year with 50% of them failing within the first year and 95% failing within the first five years, with some of those failures due to poor marketing. Whilst these are startling statistics, don’t let your company be one of them – stand out from the crowd at exhibitions and conferences with a Twist Banner Stand from Print Designs.

Print Designs, a leading supplier of promotional stands offer a number of exhibition stand solutions for both start ups and more established businesses. The eye-catching Twist Banner Stand is extremely versatile, with the option to join a number of units together to create even larger and more eye-catching display walls. The portable stands are unique, featuring a system designed to deal with uneven floor surfaces and maintain a professional appearance at all times. After all, no one wants a lop-sided banner at their conference.

The standard Twist Banner Stands are available in four sizes – 700mm, 800mm, 900mm or a majestic 1000mm. They can be used single or double-sided and with multiple Twist Banners or Twist Stands, they can be linked together. All of the Twist Banners come with high-quality printed graphic (designed with the assistance of the CAD team at Print Designs), low voltage lighting for extra illumination and a convenient carry bag.

There is also the choice of a Media Twist Banner stand, which integrates a flat screen monitor within the display itself, for moving images and real stand-out quality. The additional sound and images within the stand make for an eye-catching and professional display with much greater impact than a traditional banner stand.

The basic stands start a just £225, with the Media Twist Banner stand available for £275. Print Designs also supply Flexilink Kits, available for £550, creating a huge backwall display up to 2.55m wide. The kits include two stands (your choice of size), with one interlinking 550mm panel. Low-voltage lighting and two carry cases are included as with the basic banner stand. The Flexilink Kit is adaptable, and can be used to create a variety of wall shapes, including concave, convex and L-shaped displays. When you’re not using the Flexilink Kits, use the straight stands individually or even as a single double-sided stand – the sky is the limit where creativity is concerned.

Once you’ve created your imposing Twist Banner Stand, keep it in great condition with Print Designs’ accessories. Spare metal linking pins and Easilink kits are available to buy, along with a durable, robust case to protect your stand on even the longest journeys.

There are many great ways of ensuring that your trade show or exhibition is a success, and one of the key ways of doing this is naturally choosing the right exhibition stand for your event.

A wide range of exhibition stands exist to cater for a wide range of needs. To create a professional and exciting display, you may first wish to consider banner stands. These types of stands are highly portable and place your brand front and centre, helping to drum it into the minds of exhibition goers by association with your products. For those who tend to visit exhibitions specifically looking for the latest products that can make their lives easier, such a strong visual association as a banner stand helps to create can make the difference between a potential client forgetting about you the moment they leave the show and actually remembering your name ahead of all others and deciding to give you a call.

Alternatively, you may wish to invest in a pop up stand. These stands come in the form of magnetic pop up stands, fabric pop up stands and cross braced pop up stands, allowing you to communicate your brand’s message in a distinctive, intelligent and innovative way irrespective of your budget and practical requirements. Or why not invest in Twister Banner Stands? These stands are highly versatile and portable, and can be linked together to create larger, more impactful display walls. You can use them to create walls that vary in shape to give your visitors plenty of intriguing focal points.

It doesn’t matter what exhibition stands you invest in, however, if you don’t make the most of each day that you spend at your exhibition. It is for this reason that, without further ado, we present to you our top 10 tips on how to do so.

Hold a competition. Success at an exhibition or trade show shouldn’t mean putting your prospective customers under pressure to do business with you. Instead, you should consider what it is that makes you your company distinctive and better than your competitors offering similar products or services, and entice them accordingly. What better strategy, then, than to hold a competition that gives your customers that extra incentive to attend? Make such events clear on your pre-event promotional material.

Give things away. There are few better ways of unobtrusively drumming your brand into the minds of exhibition-goers whilst also fostering a positive relationship than by giving away promotional merchandise. Practical giveaway items such as bags, lanyards and pens can be used again and again and help to promote your brand long after the exhibition has ended, and not merely during the event itself.

Demonstrate your products or services. Prospective customers attend exhibitions with a view to finding products or services that will make their lives easier, so why not spell out how your offerings do so in clear, visual terms with a demonstration? Concisely and quickly communicate the essential information that your customers will find most interesting about your products and interact with them directly with the use of display counters.

Offer discount or gift vouchers. Much as with competitions and giveaways, discount or gift vouchers give prospective customers an incentive to attend your show whilst also directly benefiting from doing business with you – fostering a longer-term relationship than would be possible through a ‘hard sell’.

Ensure that you are well staffed. Ensure that there is always someone available to man your exhibition stand and to interact with customers that is also informed about your business and that can therefore effectively communicate its message. This way, you won’t miss out on potential business whilst someone is taking an impromptu dinner break.

Make the maximum use of space. The space for your exhibition stands can be limited, so consider ways of making the most impact in a small space, such as by combining banner stands of an appropriate size with display counters. Know your venue well in advance so that you can order the appropriate exhibition stands and associated equipment.

Promote your event well in advance to well-targeted customers. By doing so – whether with Direct Mail, advertising or another method – you can boost the number of visitors to your exhibition stand, hence encouraging further interest. Make the most of your contacts database, including current clients and target companies that will also be exhibiting.

Use the same keywords in your exhibition stands as in your regular advertising. This is another highly effective way of further affirming your firm’s Unique Selling Points and ensuring consistency in your promotion, hence creating lasting associations in the minds of attendees.

Record prospective customers’ contact details. Your exhibition or trade show is as much an opportunity for you to learn about your customers as it is for your customers to learn about you, and this can be done not only in face to face conversation but also by recording their details and expanding your contact database for future use.

Visit your stand before each day of the exhibition. Walk around and look at your stand objectively as if you were a prospective customer. Make adjustments if necessary in accordance with customer feedback and your own judgment.

By following these tips, you can expect to attract the attention of more prospective customers and in the process, achieve what all firms ultimately set out to do when they attend an exhibition – boost revenue and sales.

We are often asked by customers what the options are for filling a typical shell scheme. There are in fact limitless ways that you can fill the space but here are some options….

Firstly, what is a shell scheme?

With a shell scheme, you are provided with a series of posts that have infill panels between them. The infill panels could be plain white or sometimes they are fabric covered. The Shell Scheme is used to break-up space in an event hall.

Graphic panels can be produced that will fit inside the posts or we can provide panels and fixings that will allow the panels to fit over the top of the posts. The great thing about putting graphic panels over the top is that you can become more creative with the design of the stand. You can create a continuous mural that runs around the edge of the booth rather than having a series of panels with posts in-between.

If you choose to use panels that fit in-between the shell scheme posts then there are several common materials we can print onto. A typical infill panel would measure 946mm wide x 2340mm tall. Here are some typical costs

PVC – A 600gsm Blockout Material (rollable) – panels are around £44 each for a full width and full height panel

Opal Jet Polyester – A heavyweight blockout display film with a scratch resistant laminated finish – panels are around £70 each for a full width/height panel

Foamex – A semi rigid PVC sheet – panels are around £70 each for a full width/height panel

Corrugated ‘shell pac’ panels – printed on 5mm thick corrugated card and then folded into three so easy to transport – panels are around £55 each for a full width/height panel

The first two materials can be rolled up so they are easy to transport but foamex panels are supplied as large, flat sheets and so you will need a larger vehicle to transport them.

Shell Pac is a new type of product which although benefitting from looking like a rigid board, is folded into three so far easier to transport than a single flat sheet.

If you decide that you would like to create a continuous graphic wall then we would provide you with some Shell Clad fixings. Essentially these fixings clip onto the existing shell scheme framework and then allow the panels to be positioned edge to edge.

There are two types of material we can produce shell clad panels with:

Opal Jet Polyester (as described above)

A premium version which is backed with a fluted board to keep the panel extra rigid.

The cost for a shell scheme of 3M x 2.5M which would include cladding all three walls would be £940 plus vat.

If you simply want to fill the maximum space in the most cost effective manner then we can provide super-wide sized dye sublimation printed fabric panels which can be attached to your stand wall in a variety of ways.

Dye sublimation printed graphic panels look far superior to large plastic/PVC banners and have a unique, upmarket appearance. A large scale dye sublimation print to fit your stand backwall would cost around £216 plus vat and we can offer help and advice regarding the best way to attach it to your shell scheme.

Shell Clad is a plastic adapter clip that works in conjunction with all major exhibition shell schemes. Rather than sticking prints in-between the posts on the shell scheme, the shell-clad adapter allows the panels to span over the top of the posts and butt-up next to one another.

The finished effect of a shell clad exhibition stand looks greatly improved when compared to simply slotting panels in-between the posts. This is because the panels have a seamless graphic effect which allows you to create interesting artwork layouts rather than smaller stand-alone posters.

There are a number of companies in the UK who offer shell clad adapters and print their own graphic panels to suit. The way in which the graphic panels are produced varies from one supplier to another.

Since, arguably it is the graphic panels that are the most important part of a shell clad exhibition stand, it’s important that you choose a company who uses the right materials in the graphics production to yield the best result.

For economy graphics, we can supply shell clad graphics printed onto a heavyweight Opal Jet polyester which is laminated with a scratch resistant finish film. The panels are cost effective and rollable.

For a premium quality graphic, Printdesigns Limited have developed a new, fluted backing that is applied to the rear of the shell clad print. When applied to the backing provides maximum rigidity over the panel width whilst still allowing the panels to roll-up.

Our premium backing for shell clad graphics is derived from existing flat sheets which are then contour scored using a digtal state of the art Zund cutter to provide the finished rollable snake that is bonded permanently to the rear of the panel. The finished result is superior given that the panel has the structural appearance of a rigid board but the portability of a rollable graphic.

Exhibiting at a trade show can be a fantastic opportunity for any company to:

•	Increase sales
•	Undertake market research
•	Develop customer relations and prospect lists
•	Launch new products and services
•	Increase visibility and notoriety
•	Develop new business relationships
•	Get up to date with industry news

Designing a trade show booth needs careful consideration however, if the experience is to be profitable and positive.

The size and type of the booth and your budget are likely to be determining factors in the choice of exhibition display stands and other furniture. You will need to set clear objectives and decide on your core message before you make this and other design decisions.

Whether you decide to go for pop up stands, banner stands or another type of display, there are some important points to keep in mind:

•	Use fewer stands more effectively. Too many will make your booth crowded and difficult to navigate. Visitors will be put off and confused by too much information.
•	Use contrasting heights, widths and shapes to create interest.
•	Use lights not only to highlight graphics, but also to create atmosphere and draw people in.
•	Design graphics carefully. Fonts should be simple and clear and large enough to see from a distance, with important messages at eye-level. Images need to be striking and complement the message.

Careful planning and an unswerving focus on your message and your target customer will help to make your trade show objectives a reality.

Getting the most out of your portable display can be the difference between your participation in a tradeshow being a success or a failure. Using a product that portrays you in a professional light is exceptionally important, as is the material you use on your display or banner. If you use a display that stands out and shows a degree of flair and innovation, you will get noticed and footfall at your stand should increase.

One of the simplest ways to create an informative display at an exhibition is to use a banner stand. Banner stands are available in a range of designs, all of which will be able to incorporate your company name, logo or creative design. Most banner stands can be rolled up into a carry case easily and images can be displayed on both sides of the banner.

Outdoor banner stands are perfect for use outside retail establishments or at any event that takes place outdoors. They are resistant to UV and use inks which are water resistant, meaning rainfall will not affect the display.

Banner stands are easy to transport and easy to assemble, making them one of the most popular display mediums today.

Some display stands need to be updated frequently and easily. They may be used to communicate information within an institution, or to display items that change on a regular basis. In this case, choosing printed graphics to be used on banner stands or pop up stands may prove to be too expensive.
There are options available however:

•	Fabric banner stands
Portability and convenience are the plus points of this type of display stand. Essentially a banner stand with loop nylon fabric in place of the printed graphic panel, this lightweight and easy to use stand allows you to display your own printed material and change it as often as you wish!

•	Folding panel kits
These kits provide the traditional way to display information, and often used as back wall displays. Covered in a Velcro-compatible fabric, they have the same function as the fabric banner stands while providing a more robust frame.

•	Linear Wire Panel Kit
A different approach to displaying A4 sized printouts, these kits are essentially a free-standing aluminium framework that used a wire tensioning system for the attachment of posters that can be changed and swapped with ease.
