Professional display material is critical in order to communicate the right message and professional image to your customers at an event or show.

All too frequently, I visit conferences and exhibitions and see companies who have gone to great lengths in order to create a professional looking backdrop display for their stand and then spoiled it by writing a scruffy looking A4 sign and sticking it on a table!

If you need to create some free standing signage perhaps to provide technical information about a product or to provide pricing or a special ‘exhibition offer’ then you can consider one of our range of desktop banner stands.

Desktop banner stands are a great way of displaying small format printed material at A4 or A3 size and are lightweight, free standing and above all professional! We have just expanded our range of desktop display stands to include 4 different models.

Our best selling unit is the Breeze desktop banner stand which is a mini version of a traditional floor standing banner stand. The print simply winds down into the base under tension when you are not using it! We also have three different tensioned banner stands that are available in sizes from A4 through to a larger 380mm x 680mm desktop banner stand as is the case with the new Senator banner stand model.

As well as for use at exhibitions and shows, desktop banner stands can be used for point of sale displays in retail locations and shops.

For information on our new range of desktop banner stands, please visit our website at www.printdesigns.com and search under the category banner stands / desktop banner stands.

There are lots of suppliers of banner stands on the web today some of whom are expensive and some of whom are more competitively priced.

Lots of suppliers sell very similar products but the prices from supplier to supplier can vary dramatically.

We found the above supplier who professed not to sell low-cost, economy banner stands because they are ‘not fit for purpose’ so we were very surprised when the very same company popped up this morning with a different website address and offering a banner stand for £39.99 (just like the ones they professed not to sell because they are not fit for purpose!)

The companies website popupbannerstands (.co.uk) and the old website rollerbannerstands (.com) seem to be rather in conflict with one another.

I feel sorry for the customer who goes to the website where the above ‘beware’ statement is published and pays almost twice the price for a similar product that the very same supplier sells on another website. I have to agree that it is clever marketing however

If you are looking for a supplier of banner stands who just offers consistently good value on products then Printdesigns can help. We have been producing high quality display stands since 1999 and are a family owned business who pride ourselves on high levels of customer service. We only have one website and our prices have been and always will be the best around!

Printdesigns have created a brand new design for a cost effective desktop display stand. Available at A4 or A3 size, we have named the product the Angel Banner Stand.

The product is formed from one single piece of expanded PVC which makes it incredibly lightweight (less than 80 grams) for the A4 version of the stand and therefore ideally suited for mass marketing campaigns where the units can be despatched flat-packed in hard-backed envelopes cost-effectively.

The Angel banner stand uses tension on the printed panel in order that it sits as flat as possible over the framework. The stand will accept a variety of substrates including PVC, tear resistant paper, polyester and also fabrics for a unique, modern appearance.

The Angel desktop banner stand is a welcome alternative to traditional desktop roller banners which contain moving parts and can become damaged easily. The stand is also a good alternative when compared to acrylic type poster holders that are very fragile.

For the traveling exhibitor or sales representative, our new desktop banner can be dropped into a document wallet or briefcase and assembled in seconds.

For larger orders, the stand can be produced in a variety of colours and bespoke sizes.

The design of the Angel banner stand is unique and the design is patent pending.

We have expanded our range of banner stands to include a new family of rigid banner stand models. There are three new products in the rigid banner stand range which include the Wedge Banner Stand, Fantasy Banner Stand and Rok Banner Stand.

The Wedge and Fantasy models are designed for indoor use and can support materials from 10mm upwards. The prints for the stands can be output onto a choice of materials including foamex, corrugated sheets and MDF.

Being a rigid panel, the panel looks more structural than a rollable panel would do, thus making this type of display ideally suited for use in retail stores, airports, cafes, and shops.

It is possible for us to really make your rigid banner stand unique by contour cutting the sheet to almost any size and shape you like!

The Rok banner stand features a plastic base that can be weighted using either water or sand for additional ballast. This makes the unit the ideal alternative when compared to a traditional A Board pavement sign!

For further information on any of our three rigid banner stand models, please visit our website from the links above or call and speak to one of our team who are always happy to help.

While browsing the web today and studying our competitors pricing and products, I was quite amazed by the negative selling techniques employed by one particular supplier.

When we talk to our customers by phone or when we talk about products on our website, we try to describe in as much open and honest detail as possible the about item and highlight all the benefits and drawbacks of that product when compared to other offerings.

On the particular suppliers website I found comments like these:-

“PLEASE BEWARE. Even though we have access to the so called discount cheap rollable stands which sell for between £40 and £69WE DO NOT AND WILL NOT SELL THEM.
These cheap stands are not sold at a discount but built to that price and are not fit for purpose and are more trouble than they are worth.”

In other words… They cannot supply the same value stands as some suppliers so we will attempt to scare you into paying more money for the same thing!

“These cheap stands are not sold at a discount but built to that price and are not fit for purpose and are more trouble than they are worth”

We sell over 5,000 economy banner stands annually. We have hundreds of happy customers who order again and again and have for years….odd for a ‘not fit for purpose’ product!

“Although case is made from much thicker aircraft standard aluminium it does not weigh any heavier”

Grammar!!!

I cannot say I have ever come across a banner stand made from aircraft grade aluminium but I save seen first hand the stands from this particular supplier when a customer brought some to me for some cost effective reprints and the thickness of the aluminium was the same as our own budget banner stands!

It’s a shame when a business has to use negative selling techniques and fear in order to persuade a customer to spend more money on a product that they should have to. It does not sit with me well at all.

We offer all of our banner stands with a satisfaction guarantee so purchases are risk free! You can also see genuine product reviews submitted by our customers on our website.

For honest advice and information on any of our exhibition stands please give us a call!

Balmer Media who were a large format print and display company have gone into administration we learned today. The Balmer media website featured a range of display stands with Google PPC advertising offering the cheapest banner stands on the internet!

With budgets cut and the economy in turmoil, the temptation to purchase products at ‘too good to be true’ prices is strong but there are many considerations that should be taken into account when deciding upon a supplier for exhibition and display material including the track record of the company.

Printdesigns have been established since 1999 and offer great value on a range of portable exhibition stands. We can also offer large format printing onto a range of materials.

Our canvas printing service is not the cheapest in the market but we guarantee a quality product with a fast turnaround and the ability to speak to helpful staff should you need to.

For any companies wishing to find a reliable supplier for large format printing, exhibition stands, canvas prints or banners we would encourage you to contact us on 01785 224055 and discuss your requirements with one of our team who can offer friendly, helpful advice.

We would like to express our sadness to all those that are left out of pocket after Balmer Media went into liquidation.

When buying a banner stand there are a multitude of suppliers to choose from on the internet. Many of the economy type stands that are available look very similar, especially when you are looking at a small photograph on a website.

Many suppliers provide very little information about the product and the materials used in the manufacture and consequently it is all too easy for a customer to purchase a product which could suffer some of the problems shown below.

Problem 1 – Leaning Banner Stands

Leaning in a roller banner is caused by one of two things but both issues are related to the thickness of the aluminum used in the mechanism being insufficient in order to support the print. In the example below, we see a banner stand which is used in a department store. The banner is leaning forwards at quite a severe angle. We can see that the pole is bending rather like a banana because the metal is too thin. A similar problem can exist whereby the base casing of the stand can also flex, once again because the metal is too thin.

Problem 2 – Curling Edges

Sometimes, suppliers will print graphics onto materials that are not ideally suited for use on a roller banner. When these materials are subjected to variations in temperature, the material will curl which looks unsightly. In this example, the banner looks to have been printed onto a polypropylene material of some description. You can see the edges of the stand are curling backwards so it has a negative effect on the look of the artwork. You can also see that the support pole is bending over because the thin metal cannot support the downward force of the spring in the base, combined with the weight of the material itself.

Problem 3 – Cheap material = Prints that tear

In this shot you can see that the print has started to tear in the top left hand corner of the graphic. It makes the display look tatty when viewed in the flesh more so than it looks in this picture.

The stand uses a toprail whereby the print is wrapped around a loop and the loop has caused the material to tear under stress. If a stronger material was used then the tear would not have formed. Our stands are printed onto tear resistant material and use a top rail that clamps the material rather than wrapping it around a rod which can eventually cause the material to tear.

This tear will get bigger until the print eventually becomes detached from the top rail entirely then the stand will be useless.

Choosing your roller banner supplier carefully will ensure that the product you buy will provide reliable use and best value for money and can avoid problems like the above.

Printdesigns Limited have placed an order for the new HP 2.6M wide latex printer to be installed towards the end of January 2012.

Printdesigns Limited will be one of the first exhibition and display companies to install the new equipment. The new machine will allow us to print onto materials like self adhesive vinyl, banner, fabric and PVC’s at qualities beyond those we have been previously able to achieve.

The HP range of latex printers use a specially developed ink that contains no harmful comments and instead use a cutting edge polymer technology. The ink is very durable and suitable for outdoor use for a minimum of 5 years without any fading. As the inks are elastic, the prints can be stretched thus making them ideal for applications such as vehicle wrapping.

The new machine is an exciting addition to our existing range of printing equipment that includes ink jet, UV and dye sublimation technologies. We hope to put the new latex printer to immediate use by rolling out a new range of soft signage exhibition material which will be lightweight, easy to assemble and convenient to transport. In addition, customers purchasing pre-existing products like banner stands will be able to elect to have graphics printed using the new HP latex ink onto a choice of environmentally friendly materials thus strengthening Printdesigns resolve towards environmentally friendly display solutions.

For more information, please call and one of our team can provide further information.

Roller banners use a cassette which sits on the floor. The banner rolls-up into the cassette rather like an upside down blind.

With a roller banner, the cassette that holds the print has to be slightly wider and it means that if you sit several banners on the floor with the casings touching edge to edge then you will always have a small gap in-between the prints.

For some people a small gap is not a problem but for those customers who want to have a continuous image without any gaps in-between, roller banners would not be the right product.

There are a few banners on the market that can be joined together to create a larger backwall and the best product is the Twist banner stand. It uses strong magnets on the rear edge of the print and by attaching equivalent magnetic bars over the joins, the prints are pulled tightly together.

Other systems use magnets but the joins are always weak and the stands easily knocked apart so we cannot recommend them.

It is possible to buy roller banner stands very cost effectively. In fact, we sell budget banner stands for less than £40 each.

If you are looking for a product like the Twist stand then the costs are considerably more at over £200 per stand. It is important to highlight however that there is a vast difference in the quality of the products.

If you want to find out more about Twist banner stands, you can visit our website and we have attached a link to the product page. http://www.printdesigns.com/15-twist-banner-stands

If there is anything else we can help with, please contact us and we will be happy to help.

A shell scheme is made from a series of aluminium upright posts which are connected together which infill panels between them.

Conventional graphic panels for shell schemes normally fit in-between the shell scheme posts and therefore the display can look rather fragmented. As exhibition stand organisers rarely allow for materials to be stuck on top of the shell scheme posts, we have clips available which snap on-top of the posts which allow for printed panels to be fixed edge to edge.

These clips known as ‘shell clad‘ adapters are very simple components, faced with velcro that gives the exhibition panels a surface to adhere to.

Printed panels for the stand are produced using a choice of rollable or rigid boards and are made to an exact measurement so that they fit over the top of the posts, spanning from the centre of one post to the centre of the next post.

The overall effect of using shell clad fixings and compatible panels is that the display is a continuous mural rather than a series of stand-alone posters.

The cost for producing all of the graphic panels and supplying clips for a 3M x 1M stand for example would be around £620 plus vat which is comparable to something like a regular sized pop up stand. The benefit of using exhibition shell clad clips and panels when compared to free-standing portable displays like pop up stands and banner stands is that none of the precious floor space is taken up, this is something very important on a smaller stand area.

Although many exhibition shell schemes have identical panel dimensions, it is necessary to confirm the type of stand that you have so that we can produce the correct type of clips and the correct dimensions for the artwork panels. We can either provide raw panel dimensions for your own designer or creative team to work to or alternatively we can produce a bespoke artwork template for your stand and your designer can overlay the artwork on-top.

As well as producing shell clad panels and graphics, Printdesigns also deal with all types of exhibition displays and graphics. We are one of the lowest cost suppliers of pop up stand and banner stands and we also offer all types of large format printing and finishing including UV, dye sublimation, ink jet and contour cutting.

If you have any projects that you would like a competitive quote on in the future, please just call or email and we will be happy to help.
