Grand Designs Live London is continuing to grow as it celebrates its 11th year – last month the event attracted over 100,000 visitors and 500 exhibitors to ExCeL London. For nine days from May 2-9, the interior design event flaunted the latest trends and welcomed celebrity speakers such as Kevin McCloud, George Clark and Charlie Huxton.

Mark Thompson, the Co-Founder of exhibition stand supplier Printdesigns, said “Grand Designs Live London is the UK’s most anticipated home design event, and for good reason. With top names in the industry in attendance and a growing number of interactive features, it’s no surprise that the event not only attracts Londoners and those from across the UK, but people are coming from either further afield.”

Kevin McCloud, presenter of Grand Designs, was the show host over the nine day event and welcomed a number of industry experts for talks and workshops designed to share wisdom and advice. Kevin is an advocate of self-build, sustainable homes, and current eco trends were showcased in ‘The Green House’ feature, including the latest eco technology and gadgets for the home.

Many of the exhibitors at Grand Designs Live would have been persuading homeowners to choose the greener options when designing or refurbishing their homes – and eco alternatives are becoming more popular. But in terms of the exhibition, how environmentally friendly was the event overall, and had the exhibitors thought about the eco credentials of their stands and booths?

Printdesigns has expanded its offering of sustainable and eco-friendly display stands, and is promoting them to businesses who want to improve their environmental policies. The TEXstyle range of fabric exhibition stands are much more eco-friendly than their PVC counterparts. The textile graphics also have a multitude of other benefits, including being incredibly lightweight and easy to transport to and from events. The graphics panel can be folded like other fabrics, which means it can be stored away safely and is less likely to get damaged – therefore lasting for longer and not having to be replaced regularly.

As the TEXstyle stand is mainly made out of fabric, this also means that at the end of its life it can be recycled along with other textiles. This recyclable quality is another huge advantage for businesses aiming to be more sustainable.

Alternatively, the bamboo banner stand is a green option and a great alternative to aluminium, steel, plastic and other materials used by conventional exhibition stands. As one of the fastest growing plants in the world, bamboo can be responsibly harvested and is a useful resource.
