Our new eco range of printable banner materials provides greener alternatives to conventional substrates that are made from PVC which is notoriously difficult to recycle. Our Eco Mesh Banner material is made from 100% polyester and is printed using water-based dye sublimation ink. The polyester-based fabric is commonly recyclable. Despite their environmental credentials, PVC-free banner materials retain the strength, look and feel of the conventional PVC-based product.

Eco Recyclable Mesh Banner Printing

ECO Friendly Mesh Banner Printing   Eco Friendly Mesh Banner Printing

Our PVC-Free eco-friendly mesh banners are printed onto a 100% polyester fabric material using a process of printing known as dye sublimation.

The dye sublimation process uses ink that is water-based which is printed to the mesh banner fabric before being heated to around 200 degrees C. During the heating process, the ink is dispersed into a gaseous state which dyes the fabric.

The dye sublimation process is the most environmentally friendly printing process for large format graphics since the inks contain no solvent or other environmentally damaging chemicals.

Our PVC PVC-free mesh banners are also very durable because the ink is dyed into the fabric rather than being cured or dried on top. This means that the ink cannot peel or crack.

Eco PVC Free Mesh Banners   The Advantage of PVC Free Mesh Banner Material

Conventional mesh banners are manufactured by coating polyester yarn with PVC.

Referred to as 'the poison plastic' by Greenpeace, PVC stands out as perhaps the most environmentally damaging type of plastic in use today. The manufacture of PVC contributes an abundance of toxic substances to the environment and at the end of life it is notoriously difficult to recycle which means that it frequently ends up in landfill where it does not biodegrade.

Eco mesh banner material is made from 100% polyester and the manufacturing process uses less water and produces fewer toxins and carbon. The finished mesh banner material can be widely recycled and the coating is biodegradable too.

Most conventional mesh banner materials use a backing film that is peeled off and disposed of after it is printed. With our dye sublimation printing process, we do not require a backing film so there is no post-waste backing material after printing.

PVC Free Eco Mesh Banner Material

Eco Mesh Banners   Ideal For Exposed, Windy Locations

Mesh is a perforated material that is ideally suited for the production of large outdoor banners that can be placed in exposed locations.

The perforated construction of mesh banner material allows a degree of show-through when compared to a conventional solid PVC material and this product can be printed on one side only (the reverse of the material is white in colour).

The small holes in mesh material allow air to pass through the surface rather than becoming trapped behind it which could put undue stress on the material, causing it to tear.

Mesh banners can be printed at any width of up to 3.1 Metres wide and at any length.

Eco PVC Free Mesh Banner Finishing   Eco PVC Free Mesh Banner Finishing

Mesh banners are normally sewn with a double-strength seam along the edges. Eyelets can be positioned at intervals of every 500mm or so that allow the banner to be hung. It's also possible to finish the mesh banner with a pocket at the top at bottom if you would like to hang it with suitable poles or rods.

You can also choose to have your mesh banners finished with seams and eyelets, pole pockets or if you prefer we can supply cut to size, without any edge finishing.

Eco Mesh Banner Material Alternatives   Mesh Banner Alternatives

Mesh banners are an extremely popular material for the production of banners to be used in exposed conditions but we have other alternative products that you could consider too.

These include:

Air Mesh Flag Banners - Air mesh is a lightweight flag material with a weight of approximately 115g per sqm. This is around half the weight of our regular PVC Free Mesh Banner material which is 230g per sqm. Air mesh flag material is commonly used for portable sail flags (sometimes known as feather or teardrop flags) but can also be used to produce stand-alone banners. We use it commonly to print banners for use on construction site hoardings but it is also used for customers who require the lightest possible banner so they can fold and transport it.

Conventional PVC Banners - We still offer conventional PVC Mesh banners for those customers who prefer the plasticised look and feel of the product when compared to the softer, more fabric-like feel of our PVC Free Mesh. PVC Mesh banners are becoming less popular now as many companies move away from the use of PVC-based products as part of their environmental policy.

Remember, our team are always happy to offer advice so feel free to get in touch if you need help choosing the best material for your banner.
