Choose Your PVC Banner Material
We offer two grades of PVC banner material, giving you the choice between a cost-effective economy banner and a heavier premium blockout banner. Both are suitable for indoor and outdoor display, but there are some important differences to consider.
Economy PVC Banners
Our economy PVC banner material provides a durable and cost-effective solution for promotional advertising, events and general indoor or outdoor display.
The material is strong and weather-resistant, although some background shadowing or show-through may be visible when the banner is installed directly in front of railings, fencing or other open structures.
Best for: short-term promotions, events, general advertising and applications where keeping costs down is important.
Premium PVC Banners
Our premium PVC banner material has a heavier construction and incorporates a blockout layer to provide greater opacity and a more substantial appearance.
The blockout construction helps prevent the background behind the banner from showing through the printed face. This is particularly useful when banners are installed on fences, railings and other open structures.
Best for: longer-term displays, premium applications, exposed locations and installations where greater opacity is important.
Not sure which material to choose?
Economy PVC is an excellent general-purpose choice, while premium blockout PVC offers greater opacity and a heavier, more substantial finish. If you are unsure, contact our team and we will be happy to recommend the most suitable material for your application.
High-Quality PVC Banner Printing
Our PVC banners are printed in-house using modern wide-format digital printing equipment. We can print PVC banner material at widths of up to 3.2 metres in a single piece and at almost any continuous length.
UV-curable inks are applied directly to the banner material and cured using UV light. The result is a durable, waterproof print with excellent resistance to fading and scratching.
Our printing equipment is capable of producing highly detailed, vibrant graphics, making PVC banners suitable for everything from bold promotional messages and branding to designs containing photographs and fine detail.
Our UV printing process does not use solvent inks, helping to avoid the strong solvent odour associated with some traditional banner-printing processes.
Durable Banners for Indoor & Outdoor Use
PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is commonly referred to as vinyl and is widely used for printed advertising banners because it is flexible, strong, waterproof and hard-wearing.
Printed PVC banners can be used for a wide range of applications, including:
- Outdoor advertising and promotions
- Events, exhibitions and festivals
- Retail promotions and sales
- Fences and railings
- Sports clubs and sponsorship advertising
- Construction and development sites
- Temporary signage and directional displays
- Indoor promotional displays
Because every banner is produced to order, you can specify the dimensions you need rather than having to choose from a limited range of standard sizes.
PVC Banner Finishing Options
Most PVC banners need to be securely attached when installed, so we offer a range of finishing options to suit different applications.
Welded Hems & Eyelets
The most common finish is a strong welded hem around the edge of the banner. The material is folded over and welded to create a reinforced double-thickness edge before metal eyelets are fitted through the hem.
Eyelets are normally positioned approximately every 500mm around the banner and spaced evenly according to its dimensions. If you require eyelets in specific positions, let us know when ordering and we can manufacture your banner accordingly.
Pole Pockets
Pockets can be created along one or more edges of the banner so that a pole, bar or rod can be inserted through the material. If you require pole pockets, please contact us after ordering to confirm their position and the required pocket size.
Other bespoke finishing options are also available. Contact us before ordering if your installation requires something different.
PVC Banners in Windy or Exposed Locations
Standard PVC banners are strong, but a large solid banner can experience considerable wind loading when installed outdoors. The larger the banner and the more exposed the location, the more important it is to consider how wind can pass around or through the display.
If you are installing a particularly large banner in an exposed or windy position, a perforated mesh banner may be more suitable. Mesh material allows some air to pass through the printed surface, reducing the wind load placed on the banner and its fixing points.
If you are unsure whether standard PVC or mesh is the better option for your location, please contact us before ordering and we can advise.
Alternatives to Standard PVC Banners
Standard PVC is suitable for a wide range of banner applications, but we also offer specialist alternatives where different material properties are required.
PVC-Free Banners
Our PVC-free banners provide an alternative to conventional PVC banner material and are suitable for many similar indoor and outdoor applications.
Mesh Banners
Mesh banner material is perforated to allow air to pass through the printed surface, making it particularly useful for larger outdoor banners and more exposed locations.
Fabric Air Mesh
Air mesh is a lightweight polyester fabric with a woven perforated construction. It allows air to pass through the graphic and can be folded for easier transportation and storage.
Artwork for PVC Banner Printing
For the best printed result, supply artwork as a high-quality PDF wherever possible. Artwork can be supplied at full size or proportionally scaled for very large banners, provided that the resolution of any images remains suitable at the final printed size.
Allow suitable bleed around the edge of your design and keep important text, logos and other critical elements away from hems, eyelets and other finishing areas.
If you are unsure whether your artwork is suitable, our team can check your files and advise before production.
PVC Banner Delivery
PVC banners are normally rolled for dispatch to help protect the printed surface and minimise creasing during transportation.
Our standard delivery charges apply where at least one side of the finished banner measures 2450mm or less, allowing us to roll and pack the banner along its shortest edge.
If both the width and height exceed 2450mm, an additional delivery charge may apply because of carrier size restrictions. Please contact us before ordering if you are unsure about delivery for an exceptionally large banner.

Frequently Asked Questions About PVC Banner Printing
What is PVC banner printing?
PVC banner printing involves printing your design onto a strong, flexible vinyl material suitable for indoor and outdoor display. PVC banners are commonly used for advertising, promotions, events, retail displays, fences and temporary signage.
Should I choose economy or premium PVC?
Economy PVC is a cost-effective general-purpose option and is particularly suitable for shorter-term promotions. Premium PVC has a heavier blockout construction, providing greater opacity and a more substantial finish. It is particularly useful where the banner is installed in front of fencing or railings.
Are PVC banners waterproof?
Yes. PVC banner material and the UV-cured print are suitable for outdoor use and exposure to normal rain and weather conditions.
Can I order a custom-size PVC banner?
Yes. Our PVC banners are made to order and can be produced in almost any custom size. Our printing equipment can print material up to 3.2 metres wide in a single piece and at almost any continuous length.
How are PVC banners finished?
The most common finish is a welded hem with metal eyelets around the edges. Pole pockets and other bespoke finishing options are also available.
How far apart are the eyelets on a PVC banner?
Eyelets are normally positioned approximately every 500mm and spaced evenly around the edges of the banner. We can also position eyelets to your own specification if required.
Can PVC banners have pole pockets?
Yes. We can create pole pockets on one or more edges of the banner. Let us know the required position and pocket size so that the banner can be finished for your particular installation.
Should I use PVC or mesh for a large outdoor banner?
For large banners in exposed or windy locations, mesh is often preferable because its perforated construction allows some air to pass through the graphic. Standard PVC is suitable for many outdoor applications, but the location, banner size and method of installation should always be considered.
Can you check my banner artwork?
Yes. If you are unsure about resolution, sizing or general print suitability, our team can check your artwork and advise before production.
How will my PVC banner be delivered?
PVC banners are normally rolled for delivery to protect the printed surface and minimise creasing. Very large banners may require a specialist delivery service depending on their finished dimensions.
