The Illumigo Modular Extension is a bolt-on extension unit designed specifically for the 2380 mm-high Illumigo Modular Lightbox system. It includes all the necessary components to increase the width of an existing Illumigo lightbox wall by either 850 mm or 1000 mm, depending on the option selected. If you already have a 1850 mm-wide Illumigo Modular Lightbox, you can add up to one extension unit. For larger widths—2850 mm, 3850 mm, 4850 mm, and 5850 mm—you can add up to two extension units to expand the display wall even further. We can supply the hardware on its own, or with graphics: either a single-sided print with a plain rear panel, or two prints to create a fully double-sided illuminated display.
How does it work
These are the parts supplied with the Illumigo Modular Extension kit. The kit includes two horizontal frame sections with integrated LED lighting, a stabilising support foot, and a set of tubes and connectors used to brace and separate the horizontal crossbeams. The extension unit is designed to slot neatly between two existing vertical modules of an Illumigo lightbox wall. By inserting these additional illuminated horizontal beams between the bays, the overall wall width can be increased by either 850 mm or 1,000 mm, depending on the chosen option.
Note that the IllumiGo Modular Extension is not a stand-alone product. It can only be used in conjunction with a pre-existing Illumigo Modular Lightbox - 2380mm high to increase the width.
Dimensions and weight
The Illumigo Modular Extension is available in two widths to match the 2380 mm high Illumigo Modular lightbox system. The 850 mm wide module has an assembled size of approximately 850 mm (W) x 2389 mm (H) x 590 mm (D) and weighs around 6.45 kg. The 1000 mm wide module has an assembled size of approximately 1000 mm (W) x 2389 mm (H) x 590 mm (D) with a weight of around 7 kg.
Frame and profile details
Each extension is built from a 120 mm deep aluminium profile, finished in white for a clean, modern appearance that matches the rest of the Illumigo range. The frame is designed for silicone edge graphics (SEG), allowing tensioned fabric prints to sit neatly in the channel around the perimeter. The structure supports single or double-sided graphics to create a seamless illuminated wall on both sides if required.
Power and lighting
The extension uses the same shared power and LED system as the main Illumigo Modular frames. LEDs are pre-installed in the horizontal members so the additional panel continues the edge-lit illumination across the full width of the wall. The system runs from a 100–240V, 50–60 Hz power input at 3.5 A, with an output of 24V at 11 A and a colour temperature of approximately 6500 K.
When you extend a display, you may need extra transformers depending on the overall width. As a guide, linear widths up to around 2–3 metres typically use a single transformer, widths up to about 4 metres usually require two, and anything wider than this may require four transformers in total. Transformers are supplied separately and should be factored into your layout planning.
Graphics and print specification
The finished frame, with any extensions added, is designed for high-quality backlit SEG fabric graphics. Typical graphics are produced on a lightweight backlit polyester (around 175 gsm) using dye-sublimation printing to achieve strong colour, sharp detail and even light diffusion. Two graphics are always used – one for each side of the frame. For single-sided use, this can be a printed front graphic with a plain or light-blocking rear panel to control how much light is visible on the back
Compatibility and configuration
The Illumigo Modular Extension is a mid-panel module; it is designed to sit between existing frame sections rather than on the outer ends of a run. It plugs into the vertical profiles of an Illumigo wall to increase the width while maintaining a continuous illuminated surface. Multiple extensions can be added to a single configuration, allowing you to build displays up to roughly 7.85 metres wide when used with the largest frame sizes. This makes it suitable for long backwalls and more complex L-, U- or T-shaped layouts.
Kit contents / what’s included
Each extension kit is supplied with the key frame components needed to create the extra illuminated bay. This typically includes two horizontal frame sections with pre-fitted LED strips, vertical bracing rods and cross-brackets, a stabilising foot, and the required connectors to tie the extension into the existing Illumigo structure. Power leads are included to link the extension to the main transformer used by the wall.

Transport, packaging and handling
Each extension is supplied in a protective branded carry bag or box, with foam inserts to keep the parts secure in transit. The packaging for the 850 mm extension is roughly 1280 mm long x 170 mm high x 230 mm deep with a packaged weight of about 7.7 kg. The 1000 mm extension ships in packaging around 1280 mm long x 180 mm high x 235 mm deep with a packaged weight of about 8.15 kg. This makes the system compact enough to move in a car and easy to store between events.
Installation overview
The extension uses a push-fit, tool-free assembly method. Sections with pre-installed LEDs slot together, the stabilising feet are pushed into place and secured with thumb screws, and the SEG graphics are simply pressed into the frame channels around the edge. Once built, the power cable connects discreetly to the existing Illumigo transformer, so there is no need for a separate power supply for every panel.
