Rectangle Backpack Flag – Mobile Advertising With A Large Straight-Sided Graphic
Our rectangular backpack flag turns the person wearing it into a highly visible, mobile advertising display. A lightweight backpack harness supports a tall rectangular printed flag above and behind the wearer, helping logos, promotional messages and campaign artwork remain visible while your staff move around exhibitions, events, festivals, retail environments and promotional locations.
The rectangular format is particularly useful when you want a more conventional straight-sided advertising area rather than the curved profile of a feather or teardrop flag. The graphic provides a practical canvas for bold logos, offers, directional messages, event information and other artwork that benefits from a regular rectangular layout.
Unlike a static banner or floor-standing display, the advertising moves with your promotional team. The wearer's hands remain completely free to distribute samples, hand out leaflets, speak to visitors, assist customers or carry out other promotional activity.

Lightweight backpack hardware
Double-Sided
Correct-reading print from both directions
The defining feature of this version is its straight-sided advertising area. Unlike feather and teardrop flags, which use curved profiles, the rectangular backpack flag keeps the graphic straight across the top and down both sides.
That regular shape makes efficient use of the available print area and is especially practical for logos, blocks of text, promotional offers, directional information and other artwork originally designed around a rectangular layout.
The upper horizontal support holds the top of the graphic open while the vertical pole supports the inner edge, creating the distinctive rectangular profile above the wearer.
Large straight-sided advertising area
Excellent format for logos and promotional wording
Graphic sits above normal body height
Advertising remains mobile while staff move around
Hands-free operation for promotional teams
How The Rectangular Backpack Flag Works
The rectangular version uses a simple modular pole arrangement. A sectional vertical support rises from the central mounting hub on the rear of the backpack, while a shorter horizontal pole supports the upper edge of the graphic.
The printed fabric incorporates sewn pole sleeves. These allow the graphic to slide over the supporting pole sections while keeping the hardware largely concealed within the finished display.
1
Vertical Support & Locating Point
The main sectional support pole extends vertically from the backpack. Near the top is a small locating hole which accepts the shorter horizontal pole used to support the upper edge of the rectangular graphic.
2
Creating The 90-Degree Top Support
The shorter pole passes through the sewn sleeve along the upper edge of the flag before locating through the connection point in the vertical pole. Together, the two supports create the 90-degree structure that holds the top of the rectangular graphic open.
Quick, Tool-Free Assembly
No screwdrivers, Allen keys or specialist tools are required. The rectangular flag is assembled using the sectional pole components supplied with the backpack.
Join the required vertical pole sections together.
Insert the assembled vertical support into the upright mounting point on the backpack hub.
Feed the rectangular fabric graphic over the vertical pole through its sewn sleeve.
Pass the shorter horizontal support through the sleeve running across the top of the flag.
Locate the horizontal support into the corresponding connection point near the top of the vertical pole.
Check that the graphic is correctly seated and fully supported before wearing the display.
Compact When Dismantled
When the promotion is finished, the process is simply reversed. The support poles separate into shorter sections and the fabric graphic can be folded.
When using the backpack in its rectangular, feather or teardrop configuration, the appropriate pole sections and folded fabric graphic can be stored inside the main backpack compartment itself.
This helps keep the working display together as one compact package between events.
True Double-Sided Rectangular Flag Printing
One of the most important features of this rectangular backpack flag is the way the printed graphic is constructed.
Rather than printing a single piece of flag fabric and relying on the ink to show through to the reverse, we produce two separately printed fabric faces. These are sewn together with an additional liner positioned between them.
The liner helps reduce show-through from the opposite printed face, while the two separately produced sides allow text, logos and other directional artwork to appear correct-reading from both sides of the wearer.
This is particularly useful for a wearable advertising flag because people may approach the wearer from either direction. With a conventional single-layer flag, the reverse normally appears as a mirror image of the printed face. With this double-sided construction, both directions can present your advertising correctly.
Different Artwork On Each Side
Because each face is printed separately, the artwork does not have to be identical on both sides.
You can use the same branding on each face or provide two different designs if your campaign requires it.
For example, one side could carry your principal logo while the opposite face displays a promotional message, offer or alternative piece of campaign artwork.
Designed To Sit Securely And Comfortably Against The Wearer
A mobile advertising display only works properly if the person wearing it can move around comfortably. The backpack has therefore been designed much more like a proper rucksack than a simple flag mounting plate.
Padded Back Panel
The wearer-facing side of the backpack incorporates soft padding, helping prevent the semi-rigid body of the backpack from sitting directly against the user's back.
Adjustable Shoulder Straps
Two padded shoulder straps can be adjusted to suit the wearer in the same way as a conventional rucksack.
Chest Fastening
The shoulder straps can be connected across the front of the wearer using the integrated chest clasp, helping prevent the straps from spreading apart while walking.
Adjustable Waist Strap
A further strap secures around the waist and can be tightened to keep the backpack sitting snugly against the body rather than moving or skewing from side to side.
Lightweight Hardware – Approximately 2 kg
Despite the height of the finished display, the backpack hardware itself weighs only approximately 2 kg. The printed fabric flag adds relatively little additional weight, making the rectangular configuration a lightweight wearable advertising system.
Keeping the total weight low is particularly useful for promotional staff who may need to walk around an exhibition hall, event site, high street or other venue for extended periods.
The combination of low weight, padded contact areas and adjustable shoulder, chest and waist straps allows the backpack to be tightened securely against the wearer rather than hanging loosely from the shoulders.
Built-In Storage For Promotional Staff
The backpack is more than a mounting system for the flag. A zipped main compartment provides useful storage for small promotional materials or personal items while the display is being worn.
When the rectangular flag is dismantled, the sectional pole components and folded fabric graphic can also be stored inside the backpack, helping keep the main working parts together between events.
Two mesh side pockets provide additional easy-access storage without having to remove the backpack. They are particularly useful for a drinks bottle, small leaflets, lightweight samples or other campaign essentials that the wearer may need to reach quickly.
One Universal Backpack – Four Different Display Formats
Although this product is supplied with the rectangular printed flag, the underlying backpack hardware is not restricted to one shape.
The complete hardware kit contains the pole components required to configure the same backpack as a rectangular flag, feather flag, teardrop flag or X-banner.
The complete backpack hardware includes the different support components required for all four compatible display formats.
The Central Hub Makes The System Reconfigurable
The moulded hub mounted to the rear of the backpack provides the attachment points for the different pole arrangements.
When the system is being used as the rectangular flag shown on this page, the sectional upright support locates into the vertical mounting position.
Feather and teardrop configurations use the appropriate flexible flag pole arrangement, while the X-banner uses four separate support poles which radiate from the surrounding mounting points on the hub.
This modular approach means the same backpack can be reused if your promotional requirements change in the future.
Change The Graphic Instead Of Replacing The Complete Backpack
Because all of the compatible pole components are supplied with the universal backpack hardware, changing to another display format in the future does not require the purchase of another complete backpack system.
If you initially purchase this rectangular version and later want to use the system as a feather flag, teardrop flag or X-banner, you can retain the backpack and compatible hardware and order the appropriate replacement graphic.
This can be particularly useful for exhibition companies, marketing agencies, event organisers and businesses running different campaigns throughout the year. The same wearable hardware can be retained while the printed display is refreshed or reconfigured for another promotion.
How The X-Banner Configuration Differs
The X-banner version uses the same backpack and central mounting hub but supports its graphic in a completely different way.
Four separate support poles insert into the hub and extend outwards from the backpack. Each pole has a hook at the outer end which attaches to a corresponding eyelet in the X-banner graphic.
These four X-banner support poles are longer than the sectional components used for the rectangular flag and are therefore supplied with their own separate tube bag.
They are included as part of the universal hardware but are not required for normal use of this rectangular flag configuration.
Where Can A Rectangle Backpack Flag Be Used?
Wearable advertising is particularly effective in locations where promotional staff are already moving amongst visitors rather than remaining beside a fixed stand.
Exhibitions and trade shows
Outdoor events and festivals
Street and experiential marketing
Product launches
Retail promotions
Sampling campaigns
Queue-walking promotions
Sporting events
Hospitality promotions
Markets and local events
Brand activations
Information and registration teams
More Than Just Advertising
The rectangular format is also useful where the wearer needs to be easy to identify from a distance.
Simple messages such as INFORMATION, REGISTRATION, ASK ME, EVENT TEAM or directional wording can turn the wearer into a moving information point within a busy venue.
Because the flag sits above and behind the wearer, the message can remain visible even where signs positioned closer to floor level are obscured by crowds.
Artwork & Personalised Printing
Full-colour personalised printing is included with the rectangular backpack flag. You can upload your own artwork when ordering, and we will provide an artwork proof for approval before the job proceeds into production.
An artwork template is available from the Downloads section of the product page if you would like to prepare your design to the correct layout.
If you do not already have suitable print-ready artwork, our studio can also provide artwork assistance for an additional charge.
Keep The Message Easy To Read
Backpack advertising is normally viewed while either the wearer, the audience or both are moving. For this reason, simple artwork generally works better than designs containing large amounts of small text.
Use a prominent logo or brand mark
Keep the principal message concise
Use strong contrast between text and background
Make important wording large enough to read quickly
Avoid relying on fine detail as the main part of the design

Rectangle Backpack Flag FAQs
How does the rectangular backpack flag hold its shape?
A sectional vertical support rises from the backpack and passes through the sewn sleeve along the inner edge of the fabric flag. A shorter horizontal pole passes through the sleeve across the top of the graphic and locates into the vertical support, creating the 90-degree structure that holds the rectangular shape open.
Does the rectangular backpack flag require tools to assemble?
No. The pole sections slot together and the graphic fits over the supports through its sewn sleeves, so normal assembly does not require screwdrivers, Allen keys or other tools.
Is the rectangular flag printed on both sides?
Yes. We produce two separately printed fabric faces which are sewn together with an internal liner. This allows branding and wording to appear correct-reading from both directions rather than appearing mirrored on the reverse.
Can I have different artwork on each side?
Yes. Because each face of the double-sided flag is printed separately, you can use identical artwork on both sides or provide a different design for each face.
How much does the backpack flag weigh?
The backpack hardware itself weighs approximately 2 kg. The lightweight fabric graphic adds relatively little additional weight, so the rectangular configuration remains a lightweight wearable display.
How is the backpack secured to the wearer?
The backpack has adjustable padded shoulder straps, a front chest fastening and an adjustable waist strap. These allow the backpack to be tightened so that it sits securely and comfortably against the wearer's back.
Does the backpack have storage pockets?
Yes. There is a zipped main storage compartment together with two mesh side pockets. The side pockets are useful for items such as drinks bottles or other small essentials that need to remain readily accessible.
Can the rectangular flag poles be stored inside the backpack?
Yes. When dismantled, the pole sections required for the rectangular configuration can be stored inside the main backpack compartment together with the folded fabric graphic.
Can the same backpack be used as a feather or teardrop flag?
Yes. The backpack hardware is a universal system and includes the compatible pole components required for the rectangular, feather and teardrop configurations. You would simply need the appropriate compatible printed graphic.
Can I convert the same backpack into an X-banner?
Yes. Four longer support poles with hooks are supplied as part of the universal hardware. These insert into the central hub and attach to eyelets in a compatible X-banner graphic. The X-banner print can be ordered separately if you decide to change formats later.
Why are the X-banner poles supplied in a separate tube?
The four X-banner support poles are longer than the sectional components used for the rectangular, feather and teardrop flag configurations, so they do not fit inside the backpack itself. They are therefore stored in their own separate tube bag.
Can I order replacement graphics?
Compatible replacement graphics can be ordered so that the reusable backpack hardware can be retained for future campaigns or configured in another supported display format.
Can I upload my own artwork?
Yes. You can upload your artwork when ordering and we will provide an artwork proof for approval before production. An artwork template is also available from the Downloads section of the product page.
Where can rectangular backpack flags be used?
Typical applications include exhibitions, trade shows, festivals, outdoor events, retail promotions, product launches, sampling campaigns, sporting events, experiential marketing and other situations where promotional staff need to remain mobile and easily visible.
